SPlotter - Burst Plotter that automatically creates small plots [Perfect for SMR]

  • Hi! Why it is so slow? i have 8 threads, and they dont work on 100%, only on 20-30%. IT vill take days to plot a 1.7 TB. Tnx

Do you have an 8 core CPU?

You should set threads to your number of CPU Cores.

If you have 4 Cores make Threads 3 if you are going to use the PC.

  • Burst Life,

This is very intriguing & goes against everything that has previously been taught. You have aroused my curiosity, and I must now perform a small experiment:

I will use your SPlotter to create small plots on an 8tb Seagate Expansion & compare it to a continuous non-stop plot with Xplotter on an 8tb Seagate Expansion. I will also use the same computer with the same settings for each. Oh.... I will also make sure they're in the same docking station using the same connection speed. The only variable that will change is the small vs. large plots.

Argh!! I'm in the middle of several plotting sessions at the moment, but I will do this experiment A.S.A.P.

    TBC...

  • Burst life:

Thanks, again. I turned of bios virtualisation, (there is no other on asus) cpu usage jumped to 80%

    speed dropped:

    15min --> 5-7min

  • Well that looks very interesting indeed. If it's true then the first mover advantage is particularly important too because as soon as everybody's done this there's no advantage anymore of course. So I'm eager to try this ASAP.

Based on that screenshot it looks like you're about 5 times as efficient (in terms of your share vs capacity) would you say that's what you see every day? Because that is huge (and not intended by Burst's PoC design I think).

Yes and Yes, I'm higher up the list today.

at the moment I see this as an opportunity for new people to make a few coins without having to buy 10 externals but I imagine everyone will eventually do this and then new-comers will be at an exponential disadvantage..

No I imagine it isn't, But they have to base it off the Plot and not the Drive because you might not use the entire drive to make your plot, I don't see this being changed any time soon.

I'm having the same issue. My nonce rate goes from about 10k/min to about 2.5k/min after the first nonce is completed. How would I fix this?

Edit: There was some hard-coding in XPlotter i didn't notice, This is fixed now :)

Check out SPlotter It makes lots of small plots automatically!

The post was edited 2 times, last by Burst Life: Reassigning threads is now part of starting the next plot. ().

  • <3 That is a great idea!

Let me know how it goes! (I'm sure you will ahah)

  • It sounds to me like you're using more threads than CPU cores or you're trying to use the computer while its plotting. The core code of this is basically XPlotter, There is no reason you should be lacking performance.

When I run XPlotter, I have an i7700k, so though its a 4 core CPU, its hyperthreaded so when I run xplotter I set -t 6. For splotter, do I go by cores and disregard the hyperthreading?

EDIT: SO I tried setting -t 3 and I still get a performance decrease to 2.5k nonces per minute. I have no issue with Xplotter, and I have no issue with the first nonce of Splotter, it's after that where the issue lies.

EDIT 2: When I see the performance decrease after the second nonce, I'm only using roughly 20% CPU power.

  • lol.

    Nobody seen the code?

    added 2 strings:

    https://github.com/SamuelNZ/SP…/master/SPlotter.cpp#L275

    https://github.com/SamuelNZ/SP…/master/SPlotter.cpp#L491

NOBODY use "goto" in c++, it's bad programming style

"potential to give you significantly better dead-lines." - HOW?

  • vamsi108

hey anyone ever get "user not recognised as an internal or external command" when trying to plot a drive ?

  • Vneck

yeah you need to go to the directory manually and not from within windows

  • Vneck

If you try to go to it via "Run as Admin" you will get that when launching from windows

  • Vneck

you can launch the cmd prompt as admin first, then go to the directory that has the plot program\exec

  • vamsi108

like xplotter in the burst folder

  • vamsi108

do I put the values in the read me file then copy to the cmd

  • vamsi108

I saw the youtube tutorial , it confused me a bit where he said you have to put in the biggest value possible in one of the values to guard against error

  • vamsi108

    trial and error basically ?

  • Beerus Madness

    not really

  • Beerus Madness

it can all be calculated beforehand

  • Vneck

    You can

  • vamsi108

right , is there a guide you can recommend / link ? please :)

  • Vneck

It helps to get it down before hand

  • Vneck

    XPlotter_avx.exe -id -sn [-n ] -t [-path ] [-mem <8G>]

  • Vneck

    8G us 8Gigs RAM

  • man0070

hey can anyone here spare a coin or 2 to get me up and running? been having issues with the faucets..

  • man0070

made a post details more info, wasnt sure if it was worth posting here.

  • Beerus Madness

To work out the nonces number for a drive, take the number of bytes and divide it by 64 then divide it by 4096, round down to the nearest multiple of 64

  • Vneck

    I see it, hold up

  • Vneck

sending, thanks for making a thread

  • man0070

Your a champ mate, thanks for that

  • Vneck

    sent

  • Vneck

    no prob

  • vamsi108

    thanks beerus

  • man0070

How long does it normally take for burst transactions to process do you think?

  • Vneck

    Thanks Superfriend Beerus

  • Vneck

Usually a few mins on normal block

  • canopus

    i love how growing diff

  • man0070

ahh ok, quite new to all of this so its nice to talk to people who know.

  • Vneck

    Sure thing

  • man0070

sweet, just seen them land! thanks man.

  • Vneck

No prob Superfriend. BOOM! Boom...and all that!

  • man0070

did have a question about multiple rigs in different locations, do i sign into the burst client, and just start mining on the same pool?

  • man0070

and when i say sign in, as in, sign in wth the single account.

  • man0070

as i read somewhere.. you need different accounts - and this kind of confused me a bit

  • Vneck

Technically yes it will work, but some pool owners don't like that

  • Vneck

It's better to do different pools with the same account, or different accounts to a pool

  • Vneck

But you plot has to match the numeric ID you use

  • man0070

thats where i get a bit confused haha, see what i can come up with.

  • man0070

your kind donation, i can get up and running nowe :)

  • Vneck

    lol I hear ya

  • Vneck

    No prob

  • jamesgowin3112

think anyone can spare a few coins before i goto bed so i can setup my miner? BURST-KWBG-6C5D-NWY4-82EUF
